How does a start up or small business ramp up their marketing and ensure it’s being done efficiently & effectively?

So much falls under the marketing operations umbrella. Branding. Creative. Paid channels… And choosing what needs to be done that’s most impactful and by who can be daunting. Lots of “grey” matter when deciding on best courses of action for resources per the needs.

So… spend some time with me. Let’s make it black or white.

I’m a generalist who was once a specialist and worked with many decision makers for small biz & start ups over the years. I recognized the patterns and began to build systems and thinking to solve for them.

Some quick thoughts…

Efficiency = Lower Overhead

Lower Overhead = Better Profit

Effectiveness = Improves Performance

better Performance = Increased Revenue

I start with an audit of current platforms & workflow for performance. Whatever you’re doing should be as efficient and effective as possible because you’re paying for it every second. From there, we can implement efficient structures that scale and free up time to elevate, ideate & iterate.

Sequence Matters. Here’s the sequence: Brand [who] > Creative [what] > Marketing [where].

1. Define/develop [who] the brand [is], then, based on that, 2. Build creative [what the “brand” looks like], then 3. Place that messaging & content into marketing channels [where the places the people you should be talking to are], earned and paid for good ROI.

Should I hire freelance, contract, W2 or an agency?

We’d like a second opinion of the work our agency is doing.

What’s the best place to start in terms of marketing operations?

What are the best platforms to start using for our product and audience?

We’d like some fresh perspective from someone who’s not afraid to tell us the truth.

We want to start working with influencers and need a framework for how to go about it.

We’d like an outlier point of view on our product launch plan and how we are positioning.

Please breakdown a few things about creative, branding, and marketing strategies in general.

What “brand guidelines” do we really need, and what’s the real value of them in simple terms?

We have a mixed bag of high level “stupid” questions that we just wanna hear some quick takes on.

What’s a good org chart to start our marketing operations, and how do you “scale” marketing anyway?

Do I need a “creative” agency, a “marketing” agency, a “branding” agency, and what's the difference anyway?
